New Jersey doesn’t offer a state-specific tax credit for window tinting. However, residential homeowners in NJ can still benefit from a federal tax credit under the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act.
Here’s how it works:
🏡 Federal Tax Credit for Window Film
Credit Amount: Up to 30% of the cost, capped at $600 per year for qualifying window film materials.
Eligibility:
Must be installed on your primary residence in the U.S.
Film must be designed to reduce heat loss or gain and meet ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria.
Timeframe: Applies to products installed between Jan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2032.
Documentation Needed:
IRS Form 5695 (Residential Energy Credits)
Purchase receipts and installation records
Manufacturer’s certification
